GARDAI are appealing for help in tracing a 13-year-old Romanian girl missing from her home since Monday night. Roxanna Radu, from Rosepark, Balrothery, Balbriggan, CoDublin, was last seen at her home on February 14.

She is 5ft 4ins tall with brown eyes and long black hair and of average build. She has sallow skin and freckles.

It is not sure what clothes she was wearing when she went missing but they may have included a brown leather jacket. Information should be given to Balbriggan garda station on 01 8020510.

In 2008, 19-year-old Romanian Marioara Rostas went missing in Dublin and is presumed murdered.

Marioara was last seen by her brother getting into a car on Lombard Street East on January 6, 2008. She was living at Corballis West, Donabate, and was reported missing by her parents.

Her brother told gardai that a man in a car stopped to talk to Marioara. The driver gave him money, but then Marioara got into the car of her own accord.

Meanwhile, gardai are also trying to find a 37-year-old woman. Marie Greene, from St Mels Terrace, Athlone, Co Westmeath, was last seen at about 9pm on Sunday in the Athlone area.

She is about 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build and has a fair complexion. She has medium-length brown hair which is normally tied in a pony tail.

Marie was wearing blue jeans, white runners and a navy zipped-up fleece. Anyone with information should contact gardai at Athlone on 090-6498550 or the Garda Confidential Phone Line at 1800 666 111.

Gardai in Dublin are also seeking assistance in tracing hospital porter David Barry.

Kilkenny gardaí appeal for help in tracing missing girl

Gardaí at Graiguenamanagh in Co Kilkenny have appealed for help in tracing a 15-year-old girl missing from her home for the past week.

Ann Walsh, better known as Nan, left her home at Rockfield, Gowran last Thursday.

She was seen on Saturday in the Ballyragget area of Kilkenny and on Sunday near the McDonagh Junction at 12 noon.

She was wearing black jeans, a grey hooded top with the word ‘Kilkenny’ written on the front and a pair of suede boots.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gardaí.

Gardai at Ballymote, Co Sligo are seeking the public's assistance in locating the whereabouts of 13-year-old Camilla Beks.

Camilla has been missing from Rathlee, Easkey, Co Sligo since October, 2008. Camilla is originally from Holland.

She is described as having long blonde hair and of average build.

She is believed to be in the company of a female family member

Camilla Beks was sighted in the Santry area of Dublin on November 23 and may be using the name Mandy De Ryk.

The family of a missing Leitrim woman have made a driect appeal to the people of Clare for assistance in tracing her whereabouts following a positive sighting in Ennis at the weekend.

Gardai searching for 22 year old Catriona Horan believe that she may be staying in one of Clare's traditional music spots - after satying at the Rowan Tree Hostel in Ennis on Saturday night.

The young law graduate is a keen flute and fiddle player but otherwise her family don't know why she travelled to County Clare and haven't heard from her since she visited friends in Dublin last week.

Catriona is described as being 5 foot 5, of slim build with dark brown hair, and brown eyes.

In an interview to be broadcast on Clare FM's Morning Focus, her Aunt Kathy McGowan made this direct appeal for the 22 year old to contact home

IF anyone is looking for a crash course on politics of Pakistan and how the State function then look no further just look at last week events.

However last week Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz confirmed widely held view amongst Pakistanis that United States is behind terrorism in recent months in Pakistan. In his interview with an Arab television channel, Hamid Nawaz said that the United States, India and Afghanistan were involved in creating lawlessness in Pakistan and that it was believed that US and Afghanistan were backing militant outfits involved in terrorism in Pakistan.

TEHRAN, Iran — Two suicide bombers blew themselves up near a mosque in southeastern Iran on Wednesday, killing at least 39 people, including a newborn baby, at a Shiite mourning ceremony, state media reported.

The attack, which also wounded 90 people, took place outside the Imam Hussein Mosque in the port city of Chahbahar, near the border with Pakistan, the official IRNA news agency said.

The bombers targeted a group of worshippers at a mourning ceremony a day before Ashoura, which commemorates the seventh century death of the Prophet Muhammad's grandson Hussein, one of Shiite Islam's most beloved saints.

An armed Sunni militant group called Jundallah, or Soldiers of God, claimed responsibility in a statement posted on its website. The group has carried out sporadic attacks in Iran's southeast to fight alleged discrimination against the area's Sunni minority in overwhelmingly Shiite Iran.

The group said Wednesday's attack was a second act of revenge for the execution of its leader, Abdulmalik Rigi, in June.

"This operation is a warning to the Iranian regime that it must end its interference in the religious affairs of the Sunnis, stop executions and release the prisoners," said the Internet statement. "Otherwise, martyrdom operations will continue with a stronger forcer."

One of the attackers detonated a bomb outside the mosque and the other struck from among a crowd of worshippers, state TV reported.

Security forces shot one of them, but the bomber was still able to detonate the explosives, the report added, quoting deputy Interior Minister Ali Abdollahi. A third attacker was arrested, state TV said.

Forensic official Fariborz Ayati put the number of dead at 39 and said they included three women and one newborn baby, IRNA reported.

Mahmoud Mozaffar, a senior Iranian Red Crescent Society official, said emergency services had been put on alert over the past few days because of anonymous threats, according to another news agency, ISNA.

The deputy interior minister blamed Sunni militants, an apparent reference to Jundallah.

"Evidence and the kind of equipment used suggest that the terrorists were affiliated with extremist ... groups backed by the U.S. and intelligence services of some regional states," Abdollahi told state TV.

Iranian officials claim Jundallah, which has operated from bases in Pakistan, receives support from Western powers, including the United States. Washington denies any links to the group, and in November the State Department added Jundallah to a U.S. list of foreign terrorist organizations.

Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US envoy to Afghanistan, once brushed off Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari’s claim, that the US was “arranging” the (suicide) attacks by Pakistani Taliban inside his country, as ‘madness’, and was of the view that both Zardari and Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who believed in this US conspiracy theory, were “dysfunctional” leaders.

The account of Zardari’s claim about the US’ hand in the attacks has been elaborately reproduced by US journalist Bob Woodward, on Page 116 of his famous book ‘Obama’s Wars,’ The News reported.

Woodward’s account goes like this: “One evening during the trilateral summit (in Washington, between Obama, Karzai and Zardari) Zardari had dinner with Zalmay Khalilzad, the 58-year-old former US ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq and the UN, during the Bush presidency.

“Zardari dropped his diplomatic guard. He suggested that one of the two countries was arranging the attacks by the Pakistani Taliban inside his country: India or the US. Zardari didn’t think India could be that clever, but the US could. Karzai had told him the US was behind the attacks, confirming the claims made by the Pakistani ISI.”

“Mr President,” Khalilzad said, “what would we gain from doing this? You explain the logic to me.”

“This was a plot to destabilize Pakistan, Zardari hypothesized, so that the US could invade and seize its nuclear weapons. He could not explain the rapid expansion in violence otherwise. And the CIA had not pursued the leaders of the Pakistani Taliban, a group known as Tehrik-e-Taliban-e-Pakistan or TTP that had attacked the government. TTP was also blamed for the assassination of Zardari’s wife, Benazir Bhutto.”

“We give you targets of Taliban people you don’t go after,” Zardari said. “You go after other areas. We’re puzzled,” Woodward quoted him.

But the drones were primarily meant to hunt down members of al Qaeda and Afghan insurgents, not the Pakistan Taliban, Khalilzad responded.

It transpires from the reports by Sorcha Faal that the Mossad plans another attack on the US, using nuclear weapons of Russian manufacture with a sinister motive.

The saga of the vessel Arctic Sea and her nuclear weapons cargo, which had disappeared, been hijacked and recaptured, prompted Netanyahu to pay a secret visit to Russia. The same set of events triggered a series of terrorist attacks against Russia, which killed around hundred people and destroyed a hydroelectric plant and the premises of the Russian Intelligence’s secret document depository.

The secret visit to Russia by Netanyahu has identified Israel as the perpetrator of hijacking, terrorist attacks in Russia and the motive behind them.

Netanyahu “demanded the “immediate return” of “all documents, equipment and Mossad agents” captured by Russian and US commandos who took back control from the Israeli and rogue CIA commandos the hijacked ship Arctic Sea”.

Israel’s Mossad planned to use the Russian manufactured cruise missiles on board of the Arctic Sea to strike American interests under “false flag” [hence the American cooperation], in order to precipitate a Russian – American armed conflict in the same fashion as they staged the attack on the World Trade Centre on September 11 that triggered the American attack on Afghanistan, Iraq, and now threatens Pakistan, Iran and Somalia.

The attack has been planned to take place on or around 22 September. It appears that Osomana bin Laden has also been timely recycled with his “address to the American people”, in order to provide an alternative well proven sinister character and motive, if the plans go wrong.

Russia “Alarmed” After Nuclear Warheads Go Missing In Atlantic

Disturbing reports are circulating in the Kremlin today over what Russian Military Intelligence analysts are stating to President Medvedev [photo top left] is the “likely theft” of 3 atomic armed cruise missiles recently recovered from the crash site of the Northern Fleets worst ever submarine disaster caused by a still “unexplained” explosion on the K-141 Kursk, and which claimed the lives of all 118 crew members.

According to these reports, the Northern Fleet, working conjointly with Finland Military Forces, utilized the “underwater capabilities” of the Arctic Sea[photo second left] to locate and raise the 3 missing Nuclear Armed P-700 Granit Anti-Ship Cruise Missiles that Russia had not allowed to be salvaged by the Dutch companies Mammoet and Smit International contracted to raise the Kursk in 2001.

Once the nuclear armed cruise missiles were safely aboard the Arctic Sea, these reports continue, their journey was to have taken them across the Atlantic to the United States where they would then be transferred to the care of the US National Nuclear Security Administration where they would then be safely dismantled at what is called the Pantex Plant located in the State of Texas as per the provisions for eliminating these weapons contained in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START II).

This did not happen, however, as these reports state that when transiting the English Channel the Arctic Sea was “hijacked” by as yet “unidentified commandos” who stormed the ship purporting to be “anti-drug police” in what the Maritime and Coastguard Agency is calling a most “bizarre” situation.

Upon learning of the theft of these weapons, Prime Minister Putin and President Medvedev held “emergency talks” with Finish President Tarja Halonen at the Black Sea resort of Sochi after which Medvedev ordered an immediate search begun for the Arctic Sea using “all available resources” of the Russian Fleet.
Western news sources are reporting that Russian nuclear attack submarines are being sighted all along the Eastern Seaboard of North America as Russia’s Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Vladimir Vysotsky, has stated that “All ships and vessels of the Russian navy in the Atlantic have been dispatched to search for the missing ship”.

Most important to note in these reports, in our opinion at least, is the “grave concern” being voiced by the FSB and GRU that the Arctic Sea’s hijacking may possibly be linked to the upcoming “event” being planned to occur in the United States on, or about, August 22nd, and which these reports warn could very well see all of North America thrown into “complete chaos”.

To what this “chaos” will be about is open to much speculation…

Russian and US Forces Retake Missing Nukes From Rogue CIA “Terrorists”

A most disturbing report has been delivered to President Medvedev today wherein Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov is reporting that Russian Naval Forces, working in “cooperation” with the United States Navy Space Command, have “retaken” the Finnish Defense Forces vessel Arctic Sea that had been “hijacked” by what these reports are labeling “CIA Terrorists” holding false Estonia, Latvia and Russia passports, and which we had previously reported on in our August 14th report “Russia “Alarmed” After Nuclear Warheads Go Missing In Atlantic”.

Western news reports are, also, confirming the retaking of the Arctic Sea with Mikhail Voitenko, editor of the online Maritime Bulletin-Sovfracht, stating that he had spoken overnight with some of the Russian sailors and was “more puzzled than ever”:

“The vessel had all the necessary modern means of communication and emergency alarms, and was located in waters where regular mobile telephones work," he said at a news conference. "To hijack the vessel so that no one makes a peep — not one alarm goes off — can you imagine how that could be? I can't.” Voitenko, whose company Sovfracht specializes in anti-piracy security consulting, said the hijacking was beyond the means of ordinary pirates.”

Not being largely known to the American people, but very well known to the rest of the World, is that their Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is in near total “complete chaos” with neither the Obama administration, or those US Military Forces still loyal to their new President, able to reign in those “rogue elements” that have worked in conjunction with both Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Israel’s Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations (Mossad) to form their own terror organization they call al Qaeda.

So enraged were these CIA “terrorists” when the Arctic Sea was retaken, these reports continue, they ordered their al Qaeda forces in Russia to carry out “immediate” attacks upon the Motherland which, so far, has caused the deaths of nearly 100 in the suicide bombing of a police barracks and the bombing of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric plant causing a catastrophic flood.
To both of these terrorist attacks against the Russian people, the FSB is further stating in these reports that the “thermitic explosive” used to such destructive and deadly effect has been determined to have the “exact signature” of the explosives used to collapse the World Trade Center buildings during the September 11, 2001, attacks against the US (said to be the CIA’s “calling card”), and which had been previously identified by Dr. Niels Harrit of the University of Copenhagen in his seminal report titled “Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe” published in the Open Chemical Physics Journal, Vol. 2 (2009).

Israel Warns Russia “We’ll Bring Whole World Down With Us”

Grim reports circulating in the Kremlin today are stating that during a “shouting match” between President Medvedev and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of the Jewish Nation warned “We’ll bring the whole World down with us if we have to” after his, Netanyahu, being “told with all authority” by Medvedev that Russia would not sanction Israel’s planned nuclear bombing of Iran and would “very likely” retaliate if Netanyahu carries out his threat.

In what Russian Foreign Ministry Officials are saying was an “unprecedented breech on International protocol”, Netanyahu secreted himself to Moscow this week aboard an Israeli registered private jet that reported its destination as being the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, which Israel had previously armed for that Nations brutal assault upon South Ossetia which Russian forces were able to successfully repel during last years war.

However, upon the Israeli plane nearing Russian airspace, these reports continue, an “urgent” request to deviate from its original flight plan and fly to Moscow was received by Russian Military air controllers who were “stunned” when informed by the pilot that Netanyahu was aboard whereupon permission was granted for the flight to land at the Kubinka air base in Moscow Oblast where it was met by FSB forces, Russian and Israeli diplomatic officials.

Medvedev, when informed of Netanyahu’s surprise visit was rushed by his Security personal to Kubinka where according to these reports he was met by an “enraged” Netanyahu, Israeli Military Affairs Secretary General Meir Kalifi and Israeli National Security Advisor Uzi Arad who all then demanded the “immediate return” of “all documents, equipment and Mossad agents” captured by Russian and US commandos who took back control from the Israeli and rogue CIA commandos the hijacked ship Arctic Sea.

[Note: Western propaganda media sources are currently reporting the absurd notion that the Arctic Sea “may have” contained Russian missiles bound for Iran, which as anyone who knows this region is aware that all sea traffic between Russia and Iran is done on the waters of the Caspian Sea that both countries have ports on and is never conducted on Atlantic or Mediterranean sea lanes.]

Medvedev, when faced with Netanyahu’s “outburst”, was reported to have responded (Medvedev and Netanyahu both spoke in English which they are both fluent in) that as the facts into the Arctic Sea hijacking was still being investigated Russia was “not prepared” to release any of the “evidence” to anyone.

Netanyahu then issued his threatening words to Medvedev along with a further threat that Russia “should watch its own back” and not to be surprised when “mushroom clouds start appearing over Tehran” whereupon he re-boarded his plane with his military and intelligence entourage for his return flight back to Israel and leaving “everyone shocked” as to what all of the events meant.

Upon Netanyahu’s return to Israel their media reported that he, at first, attempted to deny his secret trip to Russia, but which was subsequently confirmed by a “senior Jerusalem official”.

An FSB addendum to these reports state that Israeli National Security Advisor Uzi Arad, who was the former director of intelligence for Israel's Mossad and banned from the United States in 2004, was “most assuredly” the “mastermind” behind the hijacking of the Arctic Sea for a planned attack upon the US as Russian Intelligence Officials have long suspected him of being one of the “main perpetrators” of the September 11, 2001 attacks upon America.

Arad is also believed by Russian Military Analysts to be the main instigator for an immediate nuclear attack upon Iran’s atomic facilities as he his Nation’s destruction of the Persian Nation as an “existential imperative” for Israel if it is to survive.
Further threatening Israel was Netanyahu’s defiance of President Obama in ordering an expansion of settlements in occupied Palestinian territory that the US, EU, Russia and China had warned him not to do.

Russian Foreign Ministry Officials state grimly in these reports that unless Israel returns to a more “sane” government headed by the highly respected opposition chairwoman Tzipi Livni the “only outcome” will be “Total Global Warfare” which Netanyahu and his radical right-wing allies (who stole the Israeli election from Livni) are intent upon starting as they see a “great conflict” as being the only means viable for keeping all of the land they say is theirs by “birthright”, but which millions of Palestinians strongly disagree.

And to how radical Netanyahu’s government has become we can see evidenced in his ordering his government to begin running television advertisements warning Israelis not to marry non-Jews, and as we can read:

“The Israeli government has launched a television and Internet advertising campaign urging Israelis to inform on Jewish friends and relatives abroad who may be in danger of marrying non-Jews. The advertisements, employing what the Israeli media described as "scare tactics," are designed to stop assimilation through intermarriage among young Diaspora Jews by encouraging their move to Israel.”

To what the final outcome of these events will be can be gleaned from these reports, but which due to the constraints placed upon us in receiving this information in the first place we can only strongly advise that the next 8-weeks may well be the defining period of time for this entire century.

Russian Military Base Holding “True Files” On 9/11 Brutally Attacked

Grim reports are circulating in the Kremlin today detailing a shocking commando attack on the Tambov Air Base located in the Tambov Oblast that holds the most classified files in all of Russia that has killed at least 5 Russian Spetsnaz GRU Guards and left many of the Motherland’s most secret files destroyed, including those detailing the “true” events relating to the CIA-Mossad September 11, 2001 attacks upon the United States.

Though many of the details of this attack remained censored by the FSB what can be reported from these files is that at around 0300hrs on Sunday, 13 September, 3 Spetsnaz guard towers surrounding the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate underground bunkers on the Tambov Air Base containing Russia’s most closely guarded secrets were “simultaneously” attacked by [deleted] commandoes who in a span of “less than 15 minutes” were able to “penetrate the security perimeter, disable the fire suppression system” and “attack the bunker holding these files with incendiary devices”.

To the information on this catastrophe released by the Kremlin to the public we can further read as reported by the RIA Novosti News Service:

“The fire in the staff of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate unit occurred in the morning and embraced an area of 400 square meters (4,300 sq. feet). Two officers and three soldiers were killed. Two servicemen are in intensive care. The fire seriously affected the secret unit where documents of special government importance were kept," the source said, adding that the Russian defense minister ordered his first deputy, Col.-Gen. Alexander Kolmakov, to fly to the site. “Damage is assessed as very serious,” the source said.”

Important to note is that this dastardly attack on the Motherland comes less than a week after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secreted himself to Moscow where upon his meeting President Medvedev he demanded the “immediate return” of “all documents, equipment and Mossad agents” captured by Russian and US commandos who took back control from the Israeli and rogue CIA commandos the hijacked ship Arctic Sea, and of which we had previously reported on in our September 10 report “

US 'torpedoed Kursk nuclear sub'

A FORMER British military official has backed a sensational claim that the Russian nuclear submarine, the Kursk, was torpedoed by US forces in August 2000.

An official inquest concluded that the disaster &ndash in which all 118 crew drowned in the Barents Sea, 135km off the Russian coast &ndash was caused by an accidental explosion of an onboard torpedo.

But Maurice Stradling, a former torpedo engineer and a key figure in the original investigation, believes a new French documentary, The Kursk: A Submarine in Troubled Waters, should change world opinion on the sinking.

"On the balance of probabilities, the Kursk was sunk by an American MK-48 torpedo," said Mr Stradling, formerly a senior member of the British Defence Ministry.

BBC editor Nick Fraser called the claim a "pack of lies" and has refused to air the documentary, which attracted a record audience of more than 4 million when it screened on French TV.

The BBC used Mr Stradling as its main authority for a documentary it made in 2001 &ndash What Sank the Kursk?, in which Mr Stradling theorised that the sinking was caused by the malfunctioning of an old-fashioned HTP torpedo.

Mr Stradling, who also appears in the new French documentary, said: "At the time (2001), that was a perfectly reasonable film, given the facts as we knew them then, when there seemed to be no third-party involvement,"

The new explanation for the Kursk's downing is based on film footage of a hole in the side of the vessel, and evidence placing US submarines in the area at the time it was sunk.

The French film shows stills of the Kursk raised above the water after being salvaged, with a precise circular hole in its right side. The hole clearly bends inwards, consistent with an attack from outside the submarine.

A US military source in the documentary declares the hole to be the trademark evidence of an American MK-48 torpedo, which is made to melt cleanly through steel sheet due to a mechanism at its tip that combusts copper.

The film suggests the attack happened while two US submarines, the Toledo and Memphis, were shadowing the Kursk in a routine military exercise.

The documentary says the Toledo accidentally collided with the Kursk, at which point the Russian submarine opened its torpedo tubes, leading to an attack from the Memphis, which was protecting the damaged Toledo while it retreated.

The cause of the sinking was covered up at the time in an act of diplomacy between then US presidents Bill Clinton and Russian President Vladimir Putin &ndash a deal that included the cancellation of $US10 billion ($12.5 billion) of Russian debt, the film states.

After the documentary received its only public broadcast in Britain, some claimed the Russian navy had drilled the hole and fed doctored footage to the film-makers to create a false impression.

Sunday 10th Oct 2010 - A spokesman for the Irish Adoption Board has delared on RTE (Irish Radio) that future "humanitarian" Aid to developing countries will depend on "their cooperation" in relation to "child care" - meaning that orphan children have to be "protected" from abuse and no doubt that would probably mean sending the orphans to Ireland for "ADOPTION"! -- HMMMMMMM!

American and European diplomats walked out of the room in protest Thursday as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad suggested before the U.N. General Assembly that the U.S. government may have orchestrated the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in an effort to somehow bolster Israel.

The incendiary remarks upstaged President Obama, who hours earlier touted the latest round of sanctions against the rogue nation, yet said the "door remains open to diplomacy" if Iran decides to meet its international obligations by allowing U.N. inspectors access to its nuclear facilities.

Mr. Ahmadinejad discussed the 9/11 conspiracy theory in a characteristic rambling tirade that hit the U.S. for its "occupation" of Iraq and Afghanistan, and predicted an end to the current world order.

He said one possible explanation for the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon is "that some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy, and its grips on the Middle East, in order to save the Zionist regime."

The incendiary statement drew a sharp and immediate response from the Obama administration.

Kilkenny People 23rd October 1998 states that over 90+ people were missing at that time BUT the GARDA had only the missing 6 women from Leinster on their website!

What happened to all the missing foreign children?

THERE IS something about a photograph. When you don&rsquot know someone personally, a photograph makes the person real and vivid in a way no amount of verbal description can. When the person has previously just been just a statistic, the impact is infinitely greater, writes BREDA O'BRIEN

Although I have often written about the scandalous numbers of children who have gone missing while in the care of the Health Service Executive, somehow I had never visited the http://ie.missingkids.com website. When I finally did so last week, I found myself stunned that there is not a daily outcry to find these young people.

Are we, as Phil Garland, HSE assistant national director for children and families, suggested, simply racist? The first thing that struck me was the huge amount of foreign faces, although it is a website for all missing children.

Among the girls, many are Chinese or African. Two in particular caught my attention &ndash Xiao Ming Chen, aged 15, with her heavy fringe, fragile shoulders and tense, pretty face, and Caroline Njoki from Kenya, aged 13, with her huge, sombre eyes.

As a second level teacher, they remind me of pupils. I can only imagine the resources that would be marshalled and the blanket media coverage if Irish children whom I teach went missing. Between 2000 and 2009 a total of 501 migrant children went missing from HSE care. Only 67 have been successfully traced.

There are 434 missing children, and we go about our daily business as if nothing of any major import has happened.

A November 2009 Report of the Office of the Children&rsquos Ombudsman on separated children highlighted the stark contrast between how Irish and asylum-seeking children are treated. From January to May 2009, apart from children seeking asylum, 53 other children went missing from HSE care.

Of these, only two remain missing, and even here, contact was made with them. From January to May 2009, 27 asylum-seeking children went missing, and at the time of the report&rsquos publication, only two were accounted for. (Seven more have since been traced.)

In a bitter irony, an asylum-seeking child who was assisting the ombudsman&rsquos office with its research went missing from school. By the time of publication of the report, her picture had not appeared on the missing children&rsquos website, and there was no publicity about the case.

It is more than puzzling that, given there are 434 missing children, my own search of ie.missingkids.com for the last 10 years showed up records for only 48 girls and 90 boys. Why are the others not on the website?

One Opposition TD, Denis Naughten of Fine Gael, has been on a mission for some time to raise awareness of the plight of these young people. When he spoke to me during the week, he confirmed that the numbers of children disappearing dropped dramatically towards the end of last year.

As far as Naughten can ascertain, five children disappeared in September, of whom three were traced. None disappeared in October and November, and one in December. (The child in December was traced and returned to care.) He finds it difficult even to get facts and figures from the HSE. His requests for figures for January have not, to date, even been acknowledged.

He went on to say that while it is good that the numbers are dropping, what about the more than 400 still unaccounted for? He suggests imagining an Irish teenager missing in, say, Russia, with no knowledge of the language or culture, and vulnerable to every type of exploitation.

A statement from the HSE said that the issue of separated children who go missing from care was complex, and was sometimes simplified and sensationalised.

&ldquoIt has been unsubstantiated that any of the children who go missing from HSE care have been trafficked.&rdquo So where are they then?

When we look to our nearest neighbour, Britain, the assertion that those alleging that these children may have been trafficked are just simplifying and sensationalising the issue begins to sound hollow.

The Guardian newspaper has carried out a number of investigations of children who went missing very quickly from state care, and in particular, Chinese children. The newspaper&rsquos reporters have even travelled to China, to the province of Fujian, from where many of the children who end up in Britain originate.

A very disturbing picture emerges. Communities club together to fund a person to go abroad, in the expectation that the person will thrive and send money home regularly. A Chinese researcher posing as a would-be migrant was told that if she could raise £15,000, getting her into Britain by a circuitous route would be no problem.

What about her 12-year-old sister, the researcher asked? No problem. They send lots of children, and &ldquoit is 100 per cent safe&rdquo. Far from being safe, the Guardian uncovered ample evidence that many Chinese girls end up in prostitution.

Another Chinese woman working on behalf of the Guardian answered an advertisement for a housekeeper in a brothel, and discovered young, exhausted and utterly demoralised young Chinese women there who had been trafficked. They were too ashamed to tell their families what had happened. &ldquoYou grit your teeth and endure the pain,&rdquo one said.

Is the same happening in Ireland? Are others in virtual slavery, working in homes and businesses? No doubt many have been moved out of Ireland, as it is recognised that Ireland is seen as an EU entry point.

It is important to acknowledge progress, such as the gradual closure of unsuitable hostels, and a reduction in the numbers who simply walk out of HSE care, never to be seen again.

However, what about finding the children missing to date? Is it not about time the Irish public joined Denis Naughten and other children&rsquos rights advocates in the demand for answers?
